The WHC Story
On December 1, 2000, Reverend Terry M. Sharpe was called to be the Church Planter and Founding Pastor for Western Hanover Church. It was started by the Virginia Baptist Mission Board, Dover Baptist Association and six other churches in the Montpelier area. WHC was founded in order to reach the “Unchurched” and those without any religious or prior church affiliation in the Western Hanover area.
Western Hanover began its worship and educational ministry on March 18, 2001 at South Anna Elementary School and ministered at this location until August 31, 2005. At this point in time, the church moved its ministry location to the Montpelier Center for Arts and Education where it ministered until the completion of the current building. On July 4, 2009, Western Hanover Church moved into the newly constructed 9,400 square foot building.
The church continues to grow and be a highly visible witness and Christian presence in the Montpelier and surrounding area.
